curated conjure: protect(HER) Capsule Fragrance Campaign

Aromatic fragrance pioneering the embodiment of liberation and expression. Inspired by the 1960s Vanity Fair’s Our Little Beauty lingerie campaign, the protect(HER) fragrance campaign explores individuality and sensuality through the smell of freedom. The transformation of a woman into multiple forms as she aligns the attributes of her inner being. Photographer Marquis Perkins eloquently captures the radiant essence of each fragrance through luxury imagery in submersive space.

Drawing influence from the Hindu philosophies of the chakra system, a Black woman is defined by her spiritual recovery as a result of her personal plight. From being rooted back into the earth to redefining the image she views in the mirror, her journey is illustrated through color composition, sensual style and exotic botanics.

protect(HER) is a derivation of the original book concept, who will protect me?, an anthological and communal discourse asking the questions revolving around the racist socializations of Black women and how these socializations contribute to our well-being. Together, we dismantle Westernized white supremacist, patriarchal visions of womanhood and femininity by finding liberation through the power of our voices and the mastery of our bodies.

Fragrance line, curated conjure was developed to serve as an aromatherapeutic experience and the protect(HER) Capsule is an extension of the suggested practices located in the original book, combining the spiritual properties of herbs, flowers, citrus and resin to create a consolidated chakra aligning experience.

As we, Black women in recovery, came together asking the questions of protection, we concluded our self-actualization, self-assurance and our willingness to create space for fellowship was the answer. This fragrance capsule is a result of this conclusion and it is designed to protect you.
