A Brief History

Luxy Haus was founded off of the exclusionary construct of the fashion and beauty industy. Indie Wardrobe Stylist Amanda Moore-Karim (Luxy) had a mission to address racial politics through imagery while simultaneously creating a platform to showcase the “hidden minority.” What was once fashion blog AMANDALUXE - merely a showcase of Luxy’s styling work - soon turn into a compelling fashion media brand and Luxy’s inherited lifestyle. Specializing in developing illustrative concepts for fashion photography, Luxy created Luxy Haus circa October 2017 and released the inaugural issue the following December in conjunction with photographers Vonecia Carswell, Felicia Abban and Mark Clennon. Since then, print issues are rolled out quarterly in conjunction with many artists of color in fashion production and addresses an array of socio-political topics related to the industry and the Black community holistically. From color inclusion in beauty product development to promoting diversity in model castings, the content of Luxy Haus covers all of that and in between.
